Your cat may have a food allergy if it shows the below symptoms

  • rubbing on its face abnormally
  • scratching their own body continuously
  • rolling over the floor abnormally
  • vomiting
  • diarrhea
  • sneezing
If your cat shows one or more symptoms above then you should suspect a food allergy.

The symptoms of cats having allergies usually do not appear immediately. Food allergies develop gastrointestinal signs such as vomiting or diarrhea in addition to their skin symptoms. They develop itching around the rectum, which leads to scooting.

It is important to note that food allergies in cats are not as common as other allergies, such as flea allergies. If you suspect your cat has a food allergy, it is best to consult a veterinarian for an accurate diagnosis. Your veterinarian may recommend an elimination diet or allergy testing to determine the cause of the allergy. Additionally, your vet may recommend changing your cat's diet to one that is hypoallergenic, or free of common allergens.
