My British Shorthair is very naughty. How can I stop him from climbing on tables and counters? Want some cat training tips.

Cats are fond of being playful and can go the extra mile to climb everywhere. Place a bowl of coffee berries where you don't want the cat to reach. The smell of the berries is unpleasant for cats and they will avoid the places absolutely.

Start to train your cat from a short distance. Make the noise, and use your clicker when your cat comes. and then reward your pet with the treat. Over time, call the cat from longer distances. It is recommended to two-train your cat for five minutes or less, during which you should repeat the behavior up to 20 times.

Training, rewarding and punishment serves to instill behavior across all animals. I agree with you.

Training a cat not to get on the counter or table can be challenging, but it is possible. The first step is to make the area unappealing to the cat. This can be done by covering the counter or table with a thick cloth or placing a double-sided sticky tape on the surface. Additionally, you can also use a water spray bottle or a squirt gun filled with water to deter the cat from jumping on the counter. Finally, it is important to provide the cat with plenty of toys and activities to keep it occupied and entertained.

Consistency is key. Use positive reinforcement when your cat avoids the counter and redirect with toys or treats. Make the counter less appealing by keeping it clean and using double-sided tape or aluminum foil. Consider providing alternative elevated spaces for your cat, like a cat tree.
