Cats are species that originally belongs to dry areas like high-temperature tropical regions. Cats are made in such a way to stay warm with full of hairs on their body. These soft furs keep cats stay away from water because they don't feel comfortable when their body is wet. There is a good chance of fever too if cats get wet.

They fear water as it hampers their coat. Another theory suggests that they evolved in warm climates and had little exposure to water bodies such as rivers and lakes.

One reason is that it is difficult to drink because the water can get in between their skin and the ground. They also sometimes can't seem to pass a look at a stream or river because they can't stand the thought of water coming into contact with their skin. Finally, some cats don't like being wet because they think it makes them smell bad.

Cats are fastidious animals that spend a great deal of their day grooming themselves. Wet fur is extremely uncomfortable for a cat and often takes a long time to dry. Wet fur is also heavier than dry and thus makes a cat less nimble and easier for predators to catch. There is also the shock factor.

Cats generally dislike water due to their evolved grooming habits and fur structure. Their fur isn't as efficient when wet, making them feel uncomfortable and vulnerable. Additionally, cats may associate water with negative experiences, such as baths or being caught in the rain.
