According to many research, cats can be given up to shelters due to a number of reasons. Such as costs, litter box issues , moving and allegies. Some cat owners can go back for them while others can be adopted. Sadly, others are euthanized.

Some cats are scared, confused, and would just like to go home. The most reason why cat is abandoned is that the owner has problems or dies, and has no time for them so they move out, or the cost of maintenance. Whether animal or human when a cat loses a companion, they certainly grieve and react to the changes in their life and they become depressed and listless.

There are a variety of reasons why cats end up in shelters. Some cats are surrendered by their owners due to lifestyle changes or allergies, while others are strays or feral cats. Shelters can be a safe and comfortable place for cats, as they provide a place for cats to stay until they can be adopted into a loving home. However, shelters can be overcrowded, and cats may need to be euthanized if a home cannot be found for them.

In doing further research, I found additional reasons for surrendering cats to shelters. Dr. Marty Becker suggests that allergies, moving, costs, litterbox issues and not getting along are the top five reasons cats are given up for adoption.

Several factors contribute to cats ending up in shelters, including irresponsible breeding, unplanned litters, owner surrenders due to various reasons such as financial constraints or lifestyle changes, and strays found on the streets. Additionally, some cats may face behavioral issues or health concerns that lead owners to surrender them to shelters. Promoting responsible pet ownership, spaying/neutering, and adopting from shelters can help address this issue.
