Raw tomatoes contain solanine which is a toxic substance that has adverse effects such as diarrhea and lethargy. Even though it's found in cat food it sounds to be given in small amounts as the food has tomato sauce and can be having other spices such as garlic which is harmful to cats.

Tomatoes are not really recommended to include in your cat's diet especially if eaten raw. Because it causes stomach issues like gastrointestinal problems, liver, and even heart damage. But eating ripe tomatoes and cook, it's not bad for them in fact, the many health benefits that tomatoes offer are included as an ingredient in pet food.

Cats can eat tomatoes, but they should not be given as a regular part of their diet. Tomatoes are not nutritionally complete and cats require a diet that is high in protein. Tomatoes can be fed as a treat in small amounts, but it should not be the main source of nutrition for cats.

While small amounts of ripe tomatoes are generally considered safe for cats, it's best to avoid giving them tomatoes regularly. Some cats may not like the taste, and tomatoes contain substances like solanine, which can be harmful in large quantities. If you want to introduce new foods to your cat's diet, consult your vet to ensure it's safe and suitable for your furry friend.
