Kneading is a behavior that cats exhibit when they are feeling content and relaxed. It is believed that cats knead their paws in order to stimulate the production of milk when they are nursing, as well as to mark their territory with their scent. Kneading is also thought to be a way for cats to show affection, as cats may knead their owners when they are feeling happy and content.
