Félicette was a female cat who made history in 1963 by becoming the first and only feline to be launched into space. She was sent on a 15-minute mission by the French space agency, CNES. During the mission, she was monitored for changes in her vital signs and the data was used to help determine the effects of space travel on living organisms. Félicette's mission was a success and she was safely recovered after her flight.
