A "Cat's Whisker" was an early type of electronic device used in the early 1900s. It was an early form of a diode, which is an electrical component that allows current to flow in only one direction. The device consisted of a thin wire, known as a "whisker", which was placed against a crystal of semiconducting material, such as silicon or germanium. When the wire touched the crystal in the right spot, it would conduct electricity, allowing current to flow.
