A kitten is a young domestic cat, typically one that is less than a year old.
Kittens are born blind and deaf, and are totally dependent on their mother for warmth, food, and protection. They will nurse from their mother for the first four to five weeks of their life and should remain with their mother until they are at least eight weeks old. During this time, kittens will rapidly grow and develop, learning important social skills from their mother and littermates.
