Does your cat tend to lay on your lap/bed or prefer to be nearby but not touching you?

My cat usually prefers to be nearby but not touching me. He likes to be close enough to keep an eye on me, but he doesn't usually like to be held or petted for too long. He does, however, like to lay on my lap or bed when he is feeling particularly comfortable and relaxed.

Cats' preferences vary, but many enjoy sitting on laps or beds for warmth and comfort. Some may prefer being nearby without direct contact, respecting their need for personal space. My cat sits on my lap.
